Laurence is a delight and wonderful host. He makes you feel welcome and will do anything to make sure you have a good stay. The breakfasts are amazing (farm fresh eggs, homemade baked goods), rooms are clean and comfy. He goes the extra mile, telling you the best places in town to eat or visit. His recommendations are always top notch. His true hospitality made this the best stay and made us repeat customers for sure.

“Delightful weekend”
My husband and I stayed here intending to go skiing. There were lots of other activities in the area including snowshoeing and skimobiling and even dogsledding. Sunday River ski area is just a few minutes away. The B&B was beautifully appointed with a Victorian feeling and decor. We were lucky enough to try their "carpe diem" special (check out their web page) and the biggest room in the house was available. It was comfortable, nice beds and bedding, nice towels, and even the soap and shampoo was high end. In the morning breakfast was all made to order and delicious. The eggs from his own laying hens were amazing. The scones warm from the oven and homemade jams just topped off a perfect breakfast. There is a large sitting room to gather in in the evening with a game table and board games and there was even a self-serve tray of aperitifs. We had an unfortunate run-in with a tow truck when we were inadvertently illegally parked but Laurence made it up to us, even though we didn't arrive until after midnight and we were the ones parked illegally. Gracious, caring hosts go a long way towards making a weekend retreat wonderful.

The location was excellent because there were several coffee shops, restaurants and bars walking distance but not close enough to be noisy.

“Outstanding B&B”
Stayed here for 3 nights while skiing at Sunday River. Laurence is a very pleasant host, and made a perfect breakfast every day. Coffee was excellent, and they also have a large tea selection. Our room was charming, with plenty of antique furnishings. Am really happy we chose to stay here. Location is nice too: across from the supermarket, and within short walking distance to many restaurants in the center of Bethel. Would definitely stay here again.

“Wonderful B&B!”
My husband & I stayed here on a much-needed weekend getaway, and have nothing but wonderful things to say. We were in ME to ski, and the proximity of this B&B to Sunday River is just perfect. Plus, clean rooms, surprisingly quiet house (it was just about full when we were there, but you'd never have known it!), and a breakfast fit for royalty! Not only was the breakfast food delicious, but our wonderful host & hostess would leave amazing snacks throughout the day - a perfect greeting after a day on the slopes!

Loved chatting with Lawrence and Marcia. Loved breakfast!!! Loved returning to fresh baked cookies and cinnamon cake in the afternoon. Peaceful, comfy beds, ample hot water (a problem at some B & Bs). Several restaurants in easy walking distance, and getting to and from Sunday River was just a quick drive.

The common room was a little chilly, but hey - that's Maine in the winter!

“Nice place to stay”
I stayed here with my son in June of 2013. It was a nice place to stay for a night. We were looking at colleges and stayed here along the way. It was pleasant and charming. The food was very good. The bathroom was worn and could have used a bit of repair. The beds were comfortable enough. I wouldn't recommend this to families with young children, but for teenagers or adults, this was fine. The host was quite friendly and helpful.
I think that the rating was somewhere between average and very good. Some things were average, some very good. No complaints.

Breakfast was delicious, cooked to order, and the proprietor, Lawrence, was a really nice guy. It was a comfortable place, and the rooms were fun, in that the ceilings were painted with scenes like biblical clouds, etc. Rooms very ornate, but good. If you want a TV, don't stay here. Showers were also very small (it is a historical house) so if you are fat you may not like that. My family didn't complain about it, I just thought of it. I would definitely stay there again; it was lovely.
